Walking in the woods with dad

Walking in the woods with Dad.

Had the day off yesterday so the kids, Grace, my dad and I went for a walk. It was a lot of fun. Grace was in heaven - walking off leash in the woods with a nearby doesn't get any better for her.

I should read this when I'm feeling like a deficient parent.

How to Get Rid of 'Mommy Guilt' (or Daddy Guilt) Once and For All (via Lifehacker)

Great post with lots to remember when I'm feeling overwhelmed or like I'm not being the best parent I can be.

Pinola lists five steps to try that may help with parenting guilt.

  1. Decide if what you've done is something you really should regret.
  2. Resolve to let some things go.
  3. Remember that the grass is always greener on the other side.
  4. Pause before you react.
  5. Find practical solutions to the big things that make you feel guilty.

Farewell sweet kitty

Our cat Casey died last night. She was a sweet cat and loved lap sitting above all else. She will be missed.

This mellow fellow wandered up our driveway yesterday.

No collar. No tags. We haven't called Animal Control yet because he wandered up after they were closed. They are closed today so we will call them tomorrow. Going to put up some flyers today.  I hope we can get him back to his family.

He seems like a good dog. Hasn't bothered the cat (yet) and our dog is getting along with him. He has a healthy appetite and has been sleeping a lot. My wife and kids like him and so do I.

We found his family!

After taking him to the emergency vet to check for a chip and not having any luck we checked Craigslist. My wife found a listing that matched so she called the number in the listing and it was his family! They were happy to have him back. I'm glad we were able to reconnect him with them. He was missed.
